Mole Mapping at our clinic is a comprehensive service for examining and documenting
your moles but also looking at changes over time in the moles that could potentially be of concern.
Moles are very often harmless, but they can be sometimes be irritating and 'catch' on
clothing and jewellery alike. Unfortunately, sometimes they can also be a sign of skin cancer.
It is always good to monitor your moles at home but it's always recommended to book in
with a doctor if you see any changes to your moles (or indeed freckles) or if you suspect
that any of them may be cancerous.
1 - It is doctor-led - Dr Xavier has had a special interest in dermatology
for many years. As well as hospital experience in dermatology departments and as a GP,
he gained additional experience and knowledge through a post-graduate qualification
in clinical dermatology from Queen Mary College, University of London.
2 - Technology-assisted - All moles are examined, and a
high-resolution image is taken and stored with a high powered dermatoscope
(a dermatology microscope).
3 - Mole Map - Each patient receives a comprehensive map
of all the moles on their body.
4 - Monitoring over the long-term - Our Mole Mapping
dermatoscope and our experienced doctor-led approach allow us to spot
subtle of changes in moles over time. Changes in the moles can be monitored
for signs that aren't visible to the naked eye using the dermatoscope.
5 - Continuity of care - We can liaise with your GP, with your consent,
to ensure that you receive continuity of care if any mole causes sufficient concern to
need removal. We can also refer you to a private mole removal service if preferred.
6 - Mole removal - We are also able to remove some small moles in our
clinic that are deemed non-suspicious. For more details click here.
If there is a mole that needs to be removed because of a suspicion of skin cancer, the
good news is that skin cancers from moles that are found and removed early are almost
always curable so an early diagnosis matters.
Call us on 02380 637638 to book in with Dr Xavier if you're worried about any of the moles or freckles you have, and you can rest assured that he will be able to give you a comprehensive diagnosis.
