Profhilo is an exciting treatment that aims to boost, hydrate, tighten and improve your skin texture.
It does this by remodelling ageing, crepe and sagging skin, leaving you with more of a youthful glow,
fresher and toned skin.
Profhilo can be used to treat areas such as the face, crepe neck, the decolletage area, back of hands,
upper arms, and knees.
Doctor Xavier performs Profhilo treatments in both his Southampton and London clinic and our Senior
Nurse Practitioner Luis Costa also provides the treatment in our Southampton clinic.
Profhilo is a unique, highly pure grade biocompatible injectable hyaluronic acid based product used
for treating skin laxity. With a very high concentration of hyaluronic acid, it stimulates four
different types of collagen and elastin, which results in significant tissue improvement.
Profhilo is therefore not just a skin booster treatment, it also has a significant tightening and
lifting effect on the tissue treated.
Profhilo is not a dermal filler or biorevitaliser either - however, it has opened up a new injectable
category called bio-remodeling.
This treatment is generally best-suited to those aged 30 years old and upwards - there is no upper age
limit or gender restriction.
Bio-remodelling and collagen stimulation can take a few weeks, it is a gradual process. You also require a second treatment session a month after the first in order to fully activate the Profhilo and usually a third treatment following. The exact timing of your treatment will be discussed with you because the treatment course is adjusted for a number of factors such as age and skin condition before treatment.
On average, the effects of the treatment 6 months after your 2-3 treatment. To maintain the results it is recommended that you schedule a further treatment every 9-12 months.
Not particularly. You may feel a pinprick sensation as the skin is injected. Doctor Alex can also apply special numbing cream beforehand if you are worried about this. A cannula can also used to administer the Profhilo, depending on the area (for example, hands and neck), as this advanced technique helps to reduce bruising.
The treatment is non-surgical and recovery time is more or less immediate. Because a needle or cannula is used for the injection, there is a chance you may get a small amount of bleeding/bruising, which usually resolves after a few days. You will also feel or see some small bumps where the Profhilo was injected, which usually settle down after 1 - 4 days
Profhilo is highly biocompatible so side effects are rare. However, as with any injectable treatment there are minor risks, including bruising and swelling. Rarely, other risks includes; infection, allergic reaction, vascular compromise and nerve damage. Side effects will be discussed but if you have any questions please do ask.
Every treatment is tailored towards your unique face/neck/hands/décolleté, therefore exact pricing will be discussed at the consultation after a full assessment.
