Skin needling is a well-established treatment for skin repair, restructuring and rejuvenation.
There are a number of ways that this can be carried out using needling devices but they all work in basically the same way in that a micro-fine
needle causes micro-trauma to the skin, which in turn induces collagen and elastin stimulation to help re-structure the skin.
We use a few techniques, depending on the area being treated, the result desired and our practitioner's recommendations.
These are small roller devices that are precisely rolled over the skin to produce thousands of microscopic needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis (living layer) of the skin and will be approximately 0.1mm in width and varying depth, depending on the roller chosen. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly - in most cases in the same day. This stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely, creating smoother, brighter, healthier, younger-looking skin.
These devices have small tips that house the microfine needles and it essentially works in the same way as a
roller device except it can be a little more precise for small areas and the pen can give better depth control.
We always use a topical anaesthetic cream to numb the skin making the procedure very comfortable; it will normally take up to 30 minutes for the topical anaesthetic to work and 30-40 minutes for the procedure.
After the treatment, your body will start to naturally regenerate and repair the skin, working below the surface in the dermis. This takes
time as new collagen and elastin is formed, new skin cells are generated and blood supply is enhanced.
It can take up to 6 weeks before visible signs of regeneration and repair are seen and the process will continue over the following months,
providing you with a gradual and long lasting enhancement.
Treatment is normally carried out as a course of treatment - generally from 3 sessions but your practitioner will advise you for best results.
In the treatment of acne scars and other types of scarring it may be necessary for your treatment to extend to five procedures.
Prices depend on the treatment prescribed but typically start from around £150 per treatment to £350 per treatment depending on the size of the area and the depth of the treatment. Full prices can be quoted upon an examination of the area to be treated.
